While transferring files to my new computer, I found these four photos of the Psychic Sunbather.

In 2010, every morning on the way to work, I’d pass this man, sunbathing in front of a psychic’s shop. Usually, he’d be oiling himself up, or arguing with someone on his Razr phone.

I never understood what compelled him to do this on 4th Ave (one of the hottest, most dismal avenues in Brooklyn) and to be so relentlessly punctual about what’s typically a leisurely activity (he’d be out every morning at 8:30 a.m. sharp). I started taking daily photos of him to show my friends. We dubbed him the Psychic Sunbather. He brought us an irrational amount of joy.

But then one morning he was gone, and I never saw him again.
